CLAC Urges Ontario Government to Make Significant Staffing Changes in Long Term Care

More staff and less documentation are key as we move forward

In June, CLAC was invited to provide detailed feedback to the government of Ontario about our long term care members’ insights about staffing issues in the facilities where they work.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its devastating impact has shone a bright light on the need for more staff in long term care. Our submission is one more attempt to prompt the government to realize how much understaffing has been undermining our members’ ability to do their front-line jobs effectively, and to fix the problem now.

We organized our submission around two main initiatives that we believe would attract and retain long term care staff—increasing staff levels and reducing the documentation burden.

We invite you to read the full report in the PDF below.

CLAC will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of our long term care members for meaningful and lasting change.
