Monday, June 1, 2026 Velocity Mechanical Workers Secure New Contract with Wage and Benefits Improvements Local 53 Ratifications Construction KITCHENER, ON—Employees of Velocity Mechanical Inc., a mechanical contractor based in Kitchener, Ontario, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing wage increases, improved benefits, and enhanced retirement contributions. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented the company’s employees since 2011. The group voted 82 percent in favour of the agreement, which takes effect April 1, 2026. The new contract delivers nearly nine percent total package increases over the term for plumbing, sheet metal, and refrigeration journeypersons, along with strong pension contributions equating to 12.5 percent of hourly wages.
