The Frank Kooger Apprenticeship Awards

Each year, we distribute several awards to apprentices in the construction trades who strive to excel and who are dedicated to becoming journeypersons in their trades.

These apprentice awards were created in memory of Frank Kooger, a well-respected CLAC representative who passed away in 2008 at the age of 55. Frank was a strong proponent of the trades.

  • One is made to a member of Local 63 (the last local that Frank Kooger served in Alberta)
  • One is made to a member of Local 67 or 68 (the construction locals that Frank Kooger served in BC for most of his career)
  • One is made to a member of Local 6, 52, 53, or 150 (in recognition that Frank Kooger began his CLAC career in Ontario).
  • Several awards are open to all current CLAC members across Canada
