They are there to answer your questions, help you when problems arise at work, and advocate on your behalf.
Each workplace has at least one steward—a co-worker who serves as a link between your workplace and the union. Your CLAC steward is your first point on contact in all union matters. Stewards receive labour relations training and know the collective agreement inside and out.
CLAC representatives are fulltime CLAC employees who are trained in labour relations, are skilled in negotiations and conflict resolution, and can answer your questions about your rights and benefits. They can also put you in contact with the right people to arrange counselling or to get advice and support for challenges you are facing.
