The government aims, through this plan, to improve the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses in the construction industry. The plan was developed in consultation with numerous construction stakeholders, including CLAC. “CLAC is proud to have participated in various aspects of the development of this plan—from representing members’ health and safety interests through consultations, to participating in the working groups associated with this action plan,” says Colin deRaaf, provincial training director. Injuries and fatalities in the construction industry are among the highest of all sectors. The 16 recommendations in this plan aim to improve the safety record of the industry and help mitigate the dangers inherent in construction work. CLAC will continue to advocate for the safety of our members and all construction workers in Ontario. We will also continue to provide training to members and the public.
