Monday, May 25, 2026 CLAC Welcomes Provincial Government Amendments to Manitoba Jobs Agreement CLAC and its members are committed to working with the government and industry partners to help deliver Manitoba's infrastructure projects safely, on time, and on budget Local 152 News Construction WINNIPEG—Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 152, welcomes the Manitoba government’s decision to amend the Manitoba Jobs Agreement, which will now ensure that collective bargaining relationships are respected. This change recognizes the importance of stable labour relations, respects the rights of workers to be represented by the union of their choosing, and supports greater collaboration across Manitoba’s construction sector. CLAC is grateful for the government’s willingness to listen and make adjustments that better reflect the interests and needs of workers on the ground. A strong and diverse labour landscape where workers are free to choose their representation helps foster innovation, accountability, and better outcomes for both workers and taxpayers. Respecting that choice is key to ensuring public projects are delivered in a way that is both fair and effective. CLAC also acknowledges the broader objectives of the Manitoba Jobs Agreement. CLAC supports efforts to strengthen Manitoba’s skilled trades workforce, expand apprenticeship opportunities, and ensure that public infrastructure projects create meaningful, local job opportunities for Manitobans. “Investing in apprenticeships and opening doors to rewarding careers in construction are goals we strongly share,” says Geoff Dueck Thiessen, regional director of CLAC's Winnipeg Member Centre. “These priorities are essential to building a skilled, inclusive workforce, able to meet Canada’s future construction needs.” As a national union representing over 60,000 workers across multiple sectors, including construction, CLAC brings extensive experience in workforce development, training, and collaborative labour relations. The organization remains committed to working with the Manitoba government and industry partners to help deliver infrastructure projects safely, on time, and on budget. “We look forward to continuing to support the province’s objectives and contributing to the successful completion of these important projects,” says Dueck Thiessen. “By working together, we can ensure that Manitoba’s investments deliver lasting benefits for workers, communities, and the provincial economy."
