CLAC Leaders Elected to Key Roles in International Trade Union Federation

Wayne Prins reelected as WOW president, Andrew Regnerus elected to World Board

CLAC’s executive director, Wayne Prins, was elected to a third term as president of the World Organisation of Workers (WOW) during the 35th World Congress, which took place in Porto, Portugal, from October 8-10, 2025.

Andrew Regnerus, CLAC representative, was elected to the World Board of WOW at the congress.

WOW is an international trade union federation made up of over 130 national unions that share a commitment to serving workers individually and advancing the interests of workers globally. The members of WOW—representing over 1.3 million workers in more than 60 countries—believe all workers deserve respect in the workplace and that their work is inherently dignified and worthy of fair compensation.

WOW aims to strengthen solidarity with like-minded unions, exchange information and expertise among its members, and increase its influence in the international labour sphere for the good of workers.

CLAC has been a proud member of WOW since 2012.

Wayne Prins and Andrew Regnerus have both dedicated the majority of their careers to serving workers in Canada.

Wayne began his career as a union representative in 2003 working in CLAC’s Fort McMurray Member Centre in Alberta. In 2010, he became CLAC’s Alberta director. After completing his MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, he was appointed by the CLAC National Board as executive director in 2017 and was first elected as WOW president in 2018.

Andrew Regnerus has served as a CLAC representative since 1993, working out of the union’s Grimsby Member Centre in Ontario. Since 2002 he has served as CLAC’s Ontario construction coordinator. Andrew completed an MBA in 2023 at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business, and in 2025, Andrew was appointed as CLAC’s international representative.

“It is a privilege to be part of this beautiful and vital organization—a friendship across borders, a global community held together by shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for dignified work, meaningful dialogue, and better lives for workers everywhere,” says Prins.

“In a world that often seems to grow more divided by region, by class, by ideology, and even by despair, we proclaim something radically different: that unity is still possible. That solidarity still matters. That working together still works.”

CLAC congratulates Wayne Prins and Andrew Regnerus on their elections and wishes them success as they advocate for workers around the world.
