Friday, August 13, 2021 WSIB Fund Surplus Distribution Model A CLAC submission to the Ontario government Newsletters National Policy Briefs CLAC has submitted a paper to the Ontario government outlining our responses and recommendations on the distribution model for any Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) fund surplus. CLAC makes the following recommendations. Recommendation 1: CLAC recommends that surplus payments not be made to employers in bad standing and employers who are guilty of claim suppression in the last three years. Recommendation 2: CLAC recommends that surpluses should be paid based on an inverse relationship between the employer’s rate and the premium rate for their rate group. Recommendation 3: Distribute any surplus as a premium reduction over three years. Recommendation 4: Fully implement the recommendations of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
