Monday, October 23, 2017 Wicked Welding Competition Puts Students’ Creativity and Skills to the Test News Edmonton—Students from seven Edmonton-area schools will put their creativity and welding skills to the test at the Second Annual Wicked Welding competition on October 28, 2017. Each school group will create a Halloween-themed sculpture using various welding processes and cuts to showcase their abilities. The competition is a joint partnership between CLAC, the CWA Foundation, and high schools from the greater Edmonton area. “We wanted to create a high school welding competition where there is more of an emphasis on participation, having fun, and building skills, rather than simply winning,” says Adam Clifford, CLAC welding instructor. Last year’s competitors created amazing works of art, making it hard to choose just one winner. We look forward to seeing the sculptures that will be created this year. Wicked Welding, held at CLAC’s Edmonton welding facility at 14920 118 Ave., kicks off at 8:00 a.m., with the contest running from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Official judging will take place at 3:15 p.m., and door-prizes, generously donated by CLAC’s training partners and suppliers, will also be handed out.
