Saturday, September 20, 2025 Who’s Here to Help You at Work? Don’t be afraid to speak up. Being part of a union means you have a team behind you Manitoba Local 306 By Nnedi Agu, Representative When something at work doesn’t seem right, it can take courage to speak up. Being assertive doesn’t mean being aggressive. It simply means having the confidence to ask questions and voice concerns. If you’re wondering about policies, scheduling, or job expectations, your supervisor or manager is usually the best place to start. But if you ever feel unsure about your rights, or an issue isn’t being handled properly, you don’t have to handle it alone. You can reach out to a union steward or your CLAC representative for support. And if your workplace doesn’t currently have a steward and you’d like to learn more about the role, let us know! Stewards are there to support coworkers, speak up together, and make sure concerns are heard. Remember that being part of a union means you have a team behind you. Speaking up is a form of strength, and when we do it together, we make the workplace better for everyone.
