Friday, January 14, 2022 Wallwin Electric Employees Secure Wage Gains, Other Improvements with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Barrie, ON—Electricians and electrician apprentices employed by Wallwin Electric Services Limited, based in Barrie, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases and a number of other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented the employees since September 2012. The new contract provides employees with wage increases of 2.5, 2.5, and 3 percent over the term and includes additional protection against inflation. If the Ontario 12-month trailing average consumer price index, as determined by Statistics Canada, is more than three percent on November 30 for any year of the agreement, then the percentage above three percent will be divided by two and automatically applied to the wage rate. Other improvements include an increase in the vision care benefit from $250 to $350 and the tool and boot allowance from $200 to $300. The night-shift premium was improved from eight to ten percent. In addition, a new foreperson level was included for those running small projects. Employees also saw improvements to travel provisions. “There were a lot of items to discuss with the members and negotiate with the employer in this agreement,” says Josh Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “But the bargaining committee remained focused and worked hard to achieve the goals of the membership.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
