Wages, Benefits Improve with New Lafarge Brechin Contract

Brechin, ON—Local 52 members employed by Lafarge Brechin have a new collective agreement.

The agreement includes annual wage and pension improvements of 2.1 percent to 2.4 percent for all classifications over the length of the 36-month contract. There are also improvements each year to matching retirement savings contributions, improved vacation time, vision coverage, and boot allowance, as well as a signing bonus.

“This was a good process and the bargaining teams did a good job balancing all the facts and working toward an outcome that served everyone’s interests,” says J. D. Alkema, CLAC regional director.

Local 52 has represented workers at Lafarge Brechin since 1974.
