Wednesday, November 13, 2024 The Need Is Great By supporting its partners, the CLAC Foundation is making a difference in the lives of many people throughout Canada and around the world Guide Magazine By Robyn Haarsma, CLAC Foundation President The CLAC Foundation is honoured to support the work of our partners. The relief they offer newcomers to Canada, those at risk of or who are experiencing homelessness, and migrant workers, as well as their advocacy for the rights of workers internationally, is truly inspiring. We take pride in the opportunity to provide funding and creative collaboration to further their impact. Our success is possible through the ongoing support of CLAC and our growing list of donors who make our work possible. I am also thankful for our dedicated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic board of directors and partnership manager, Darren Shearer, who ensure that good work gets done! This past year, we welcomed one more organization as a partner, bringing our domestic total to 13. And with almost $400,000 committed to support this work, we are in an ideal position to expand the reach of the CLAC Foundation. More important than those numbers is the impact that our small but growing foundation continues to have in enabling people to secure work by providing funding to cover training costs, to help migrant workers escape illegal working conditions, and to our international partners so that they can educate workers on how to advocate for their rights. We are also proud to support the community by enabling our partners through the work of the Interprovincial Workforce Collective. This collective connects our partners, allowing them to collaborate, solve problems, and launch innovative projects across Canada. This collective also enables us to find new partners that align with the vision and mission of the CLAC Foundation. We are very excited to see what comes from this group in the future. We are inspired by the hard work and dedication of the many people who work tirelessly for our partners, both nationally and internationally. These dedicated teams better the lives of those in need of a helping hand, a hot meal, a place to sleep, a way back to employment, and a healthier, more fulfilling life, one that includes positive, rewarding, and fulfilling work. The need is great. We look forward to our impact continuing to grow next year and beyond. To learn more about the CLAC Foundation and to support its work with a donation, go to clacfoundation.ca.
