The Beechwood Employees Vote Overwhelmingly in Favour of New Contract

Mississauga, ON—Employees working at The Beechwood Retirement Residence have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new four-year collective agreement. The contract was negotiated by Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304.

The contract provides significant monetary gains of two percent per year wage increases, special adjustments for registered practical nurses and receptionists of $0.65 an hour, and an additional week of vacation. There are also improvements to vision, life insurance, and dental benefits along with the introduction of a shift premium for all staff working afternoons and evening shifts.

“Our members were very pleased with the progress made during this round of bargaining,” says Kevin Gates, CLAC representative. “The members working at The Beechwood are working harder than ever with increased workload and rising acuity levels in residents, so we are very pleased to have achieved such a good outcome.”
