Friday, November 18, 2022 Strong Wage Improvements for Johnson Electric Employees Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction London, ON—Employees of Johnson Electric Inc., based in London, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with strong wage increases and other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented them since August 2013. Terms of the settlement, which took effect November 13, 2022, focused heavily on improving hourly wage rates. Licensed electricians will see total package compensation improvements of up to $8.19 per hour over the term. The contract also provides improvements to contributions to healthcare benefits, travel compensation, pension contributions, mileage reimbursement, and living-out allowances. “We are pleased to deliver this strong settlement for our members,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “With the current high cost of inflation, the priority of solid wage increases came first. But we are equally pleased to partner with management to provide security for our members and their families with attention to several other matters. The settlement not only provides excellent wages and a strong healthcare benefits plan for the present, but a solid pension plan they can trust for their future.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
