Wednesday, December 14, 2022 Significant Wage, Pension Gains for Collaborative Structures Employees Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction Cambridge, ON—Employees of Collaborative Structures Limited unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage and pension increases and other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented them since May 2013. The new contract provides employees with 14 percent wage increases and 5 percent increases to employer contributions to their pension plan over the term. The agreement also includes the addition of a boot allowance, a prescription safety eyewear allowance, increase to the daily food allowance, and improved travel pay provisions. “This is an excellent agreement for our members providing them with a measure of protection against inflation, both now and for their retirement,” says James Koopman, CLAC representative. “The unanimous support by the membership for the contract indicates the bargaining committee understood members’ priorities heading into negotiations. The strong agreement will also help the company retain employees in a tight labour market.” The 25 employees work as carpenters, carpenter apprentices, formsetters, equipment operators, construction labourers, truck drivers, and general superintendents. Collaborative Structures provides general contracting and design-build services for the industrial, commercial, and institutional sector of Ontario.
