Tuesday, February 28, 2023 Rutherford Contracting Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Providing Significant Wage Increases Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Aurora, ON—Employees of Rutherford Contracting Ltd., based in Aurora, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since June 2016. The new contract provides the 25 carpenters, operators, and labourers with wage increases of up to 19 percent over the term. In addition, employer contributions to employees’ retirement savings will increase by one percent in year three. Increases to the lead-hand and foreperson premiums were also negotiated, and the daily out-of-town meal allowance increases by $8. “The union bargaining committee wrestled with the challenges of negotiating an agreement that is fair for a multidivision unit with differing priorities,” says Randy Parris, CLAC representative. “We were able to zero in on what mattered most to the members, while securing competitive wages and an agreement the membership wholeheartedly endorsed.” Rutherford Contracting is a general contractor working in the greater Toronto and surrounding areas.
