Friday, May 6, 2022 Rose City Employees Ratify Contract Providing Annual Wage Increases, Other Improvements Locals Local 53 Ratifications Sectors Construction Windsor, ON—Employees of Rose City Electric Limited, based in Windsor, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with annual wage increases and other improvements. The 31 journeyperson electricians and electrician apprentices are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented the employees since April 2019. The new contract provides employees with annual wage increases of 75 cents per hour per year. Other improvements include a $35,000 increase to life insurance benefits and the addition of a paid personal day. “It was difficult to gauge what a fair increase would be in the midst of our current economic climate,” says Alex Kuiper, CLAC representative. “Our members were eager to see wage increases to remain on par with the highest-paid electricians in the region, but they also wanted their employer to remain competitive to ensure work availability.” Rose City is an electrical contractor working on a number of projects in the Windsor region, including a large multiresidential building on Meadowbrook Lane, the Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel in downtown Windsor, and a burgeoning $5 billion EV battery plant new to the Windsor region.
