Saturday, December 4, 2021 Report on Local 304’s Annual General Meeting Locals Local 304 Newsletters Ontario Healthcare Over 50 Local 304 members met online on Wednesday, October 26, to conduct the business of the local during its annual general meeting. Members received greetings from Wayne Prins, CLAC’s executive director, and Ian DeWaard, CLAC Ontario director. Both expressed their thanks and appreciation for the work done by members and shared that CLAC will continue to advocate strongly on their behalf to all levels of government, both provincial and federal. Michael Glockner, CLAC representative, provided a recap of the year. He acknowledged that an annual general meeting was not held in 2020 because of complications created by the pandemic. Vanya Koleva, CLAC controller, presented a financial overview from the previous year and identified that the overall dues collected were down, but that can be wholly contributed to the impact that COVID-19 had on many healthcare bargaining units. Vanya predicts that as we slowly move back to where life was prior to COVID, we will see a stronger financial picture in the near future. Board elections during the meeting were also conducted online. The membership elected Marlene Ragbir (Holland Christian Homes) and Sarah Wylie (Roberta Place) to the Local 304 Board. The evening concluded with a presentation by Jason Dykstra, an international speaker and trainer specializing in interpersonal communication skills and mental health. Jason spoke on the topic of developing mental resilience. Members expressed appreciation for his support of CLAC’s healthcare heroes.
