Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Regulation for Union Financial Disclosure and Union Dues Election in the Alberta Labour Code CLAC has submitted its concerns regarding the Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act to the provincial government Policy Briefs CLAC has provided a submission to the government of Alberta outlining why sections 24.1 and 26.1 of the Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act are detrimental to the efforts of labour unions across the province. The paper outlines why this legislation will be costly and counterproductive for the government, employers, and unions. CLAC believes that this legislation will create conflict between the government, employers, and labour; result in more red tape; prompt litigation; cause some unions to look for loopholes; lessen contributions to community causes and initiatives; and consume the resources of the Labour Relations Board.
