Tuesday, February 20, 2024 Ratifications Newsletters Alberta Local 63 Bakos NDT Ltd. Members ratified a new 31-month agreement that included changes to RRSPs for employees under 5 years of service who will receive an increase of 2%. Employees will receive 2% increase to the base wage on July 2, 2023, and a guaranteed increase of 3% in 2024 and 2025. The parties also agreed to have an additional wage review to coincide with the yearly increases. This settlement is in addition to the 10% increase in base wages members received December 1, 2022. Brand Energy Solutions (Canada) Ltd. Members voted 77% in favour of a 2-year agreement providing them with a 9% wage increase for 2024 followed up by another 4% increase in 2025. Additionally, they also received an increase to the night-shift premium and the introduction of an under air premium. Brock Canada Field Services Ltd. Members voted 79 percent in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement providing them with an 8.5% wage increase. In addition, it provides improved language regarding paid training and paid breaks. Brock Canada Field Services employs approximately 400 members at multiple sites across Alberta. Coronet Electric Inc. Members voted 83 percent in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement providing them a 3.1% increase to the base wage, bringing the journeyperson rate up to $33.50/hr. In addition, the employer will now pay 100% of the benefits premium, up from 75%. Hinton Scaffold Solution Inc. Members unanimously ratified their first agreement. Currently, between 20 and 40 members are working solely at CNRL Horizon. The contract provides wage rates on par with CLAC’s highest rates for maintenance in Wood Buffalo ($46.54/hr. currently), with a 4% increase March 3, 2024, to $48.40. Members also received a boot allowance of $100. Integral Energy Services Ltd. Approximately 250 members ratified a 2-year agreement, with 92% of the membership voting in favour. The new contract provides a 4.3% increase to the base wage rate and meaningful language additions. Ledcor Construction Limited Members voted 84% in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement providing them with a competitive wage increase for this year as well as a set increase for 2025. They also received increases to the boot allowance, prescription eyewear and hearing protection, night-shift premium, and leadership premium. The 70 members are currently involved in building many commercial projects in the Edmonton and Calgary areas. Ledcor RMC Services Ltd. Members ratified a new agreement that provides them with a 3.51% base wage rate increase, bringing the compulsory rate up to $51.00/hr. in Wood Buffalo. They also received a 0.5% increase on their matching pension bringing that to a total of 2.5%. LTS Build Services Ltd. Members voted 92% voting in favour of a 2-year agreement providing the following: • Increased wages by 2% for civil and 7% for their splicers in year 1 and 2% total compensation for year 2 • Introduced a $250 boot allowance • Increased the night-shift premium • Added long term incentives for increased vacation pay • Signed LTS onto the new training model • Better language surrounding tool lists and tool storage • Increased steward premium • Added tighter language surrounding annual employee performance reviews and evaluations LTS is involved in the telecom industry and mainly subs work to Telus installing and upgrading fibre optic networks. They most recently completed a project upgrading Internet connection speeds in High Level, Alberta, as part of a government program to get rural communities connected to high-speed Internet. Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd. Members voted 80% in favour of ratifying a 32-month agreement providing them with a 5% wage increase over 2 years followed by a wage review in the latter half of the agreement. In addition, members will benefit from an extra sick day (from 2 to 3), improved travel and accommodations language, a sunset clause for discipline, an increase to the night-shift premium, and more. MCL Power Inc. Members ratified a 2-year agreement. The company employes about 35 members who work in the Edmonton area at many locations providing single source electrical services to commercial construction. CLAC successfully negotiated increases to night-shift premiums, boot allowance, and a 3% base wage rate increase. This should put the company in a position to hire qualified tradespeople and secure future work for members in the future. Nason Contracting Group Ltd. – Construction Members ratified a 31-month agreement that includes 4 different sectors: industrial, commercial, environmental, and renewable construction. Approximately 80 members are working in Fort McMurray and Edmonton, another 100 are working in commercial construction in Edmonton and Calgary, and about 90 members are working under the renewable team in the Calgary area. Nason Contracting Group Ltd. – Fabrication Members ratified a new 31-month agreement that includes a 6.5% increase to the base wage rate (effective July 2, 2023) along with increases in night-shift premiums, boot allowance, prescription eyewear, and RRSPs. Long term incentives of matching RRSPs of 1% for members with over 5 years of service, 2% for those with 8 years, and 3% for those with 10 years were negotiated. Nuna Logistics Limited Members employed by Nuna in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut voted 81% and 71% respectively in favour of ratifying 3-year agreements. Both agreements provide wage increases of 4% in 2024 and 2.5% in 2025. Nuna Logistics is Canada’s largest Inuit-owned heavy civil construction, mining, and remediation contractor. It employes 96 members in the Northwest Territories and 82 members in Nunavut. OCL Construction Services Members voted 98% in favour of a 32-month agreement providing a 5.45% wage increase for 2024, new welding premiums, and numerous meaningful contract language changes and updates. Primoris Facilities (Canada) LP Members ratified a 30-month agreement increasing their industrial rates for both Alberta and Wood Buffalo by over 4%. Rozen Steel Works Inc. Members voted 88% in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement. Rozen Steel Works is a fabrication shop located in Acheson that specializes in both pipe and structural fabrication. This is their second agreement with CLAC. In addition to a 5% wage increase, improvements were made to the enhanced responsibilities and experience premiums. The contract also provides a $300 PPE annual allotment and improves language in several key articles and wage schedule notes. Skyway Canada Ltd. Members ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with an 8.5% wage increase for 2024 and 4.5% increase for 2025. The agreement also provides an increase to the night-shift premium and the addition of short term disability coverage to the benefits plan. Skyway employs 50 members. TWI (Technical Workforce Inc.) Members ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with a 4% wage increase effective February 4, 2024, and a 3% increase effective February 2, 2025. The night-shift premium increases from $2 to $3/hr., a 10¢/hr. boot allowance applies from day one of employment, and a 25¢/hr. premium will be paid to those with first-aid certification. Vacation pay increases to 8% after 4 years of service and 10% after 9 years. Overtime will be paid when an employee works on any regularly scheduled day off, provided they have completed their scheduled hours for the week or have been granted an approved leave of absence. Benefits improvements include to bereavement provisions, prescription safety eyewear, life insurance for spouse and dependent child, prescription drug coverage, massage, and vision care. In addition, employer contributions to the benefits premium were increased. The comprehensive new agreement also features general language updates, including the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday. TWI, an arm of Graham Construction, employs approximately 150 members (100 in Edmonton and 50 in Calgary) working in civil and commercial construction.
