The pension plan was also improved, and the employer agreed to a new $300 safety boot allowance. Arcon Electric Ltd. Local 53 members employed by this London-based contractor ratified their first contract. The 3-year agreement establishes a full spectrum of union contract benefits including annual wage increases and enrolment in the union’s healthcare benefits and pension plans. Other aspects include vacation pay increases, paid work time for health and safety training courses, and an annual workwear and safety footwear allowance. BCR Electric Ltd. Local 6 members employed by this Welland-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a minimum 13.5% wage increase over the term and includes protection from inflation. In addition, members annual boot allowance was increased to $400. Borea Construction ULC Local 53 members employed by Borea ratified a 3-year agreement that will provide a strong incentive to rebuild the company’s workforce in Ontario. Many changes in language and structure of the Ontario agreement have been implemented to establish an overall standard that will be applicable to Borea’s workforce across Canada. Over the life of the contract, entry workers in the solar and battery sector will see an increase of 17% in their base hourly wage rate. Along with annual wage improvements, all employees receive increased employer contributions to their pension. A national standard for healthcare benefits coverage has also been adopted, making it possible for employees to maintain consistent coverage when working in different provinces. Brampton Brick Limited Local 52 members employed by Brampton Brick ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases ranging from 18 to 19%, depending on classification, over the term. Additional premiums were also added for team lead hands. Can-Am Pipe Works Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Woodbridge-based company ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 9% wage increases over the term. In addition, employer contributions to members’ retirement savings will increase by 1% in the second and third year of the contract, bringing the total to 12%. The contract also includes improvements to vision care coverage and new out-of-town premiums. Cirrus Management Contracting Limited Local 6 members employed by this St. Catharines-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 12% wage increase over the term and increases to employer contributions to members’ pension plan. In addition, the life insurance payout amount was increased, and vision coverage increases to $750. City Electric Inc. Local 52 members employed by this Vaughn-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a $10.64/hr. (27%) wage increase over the term, with total compensation package increase amounting to $15.58/hr. (32%). Red-circled employees will also receive the negotiated rate increases. In addition, employees will benefit from a new $200 annual boot allowance, a $15 increase to the out-of-town meal allowance, and an increase to the per kilometre rate for specified travel provisions. Dalcon Constructors Ltd. CLAC members employed by this Nepean-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 10.5% wage increases over the term. In addition, employer contributions to members’ pension plan increase by 1.5% over the term, and vacation pay increases to 11% after 10 years of service. The new contract also provides enhancements to boot, personal protective equipment, travel, and meal allowances. Glencoe Installation Corp. Local 52 members employed by this Glencoe-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 15% wage increase over the term along with a 3% increase to employer contributions to their retirement savings. In addition, the agreement includes significant increases to members’ health benefits plan, a 2% increase to vacation pay, a $300 increase to the boot and clothing allowance, and an increase to the out-of-town meal allowance. Other improvements include an increase to the per kilometre rate to 2024 Canada Revenue Agency rates and increased employer contributions to the union’s Education and Assistance and Industry funds. Global Fire Protection Ltd. Local 52 members employed as sprinkler fitters by this Mississauga-based company unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 24% wage increases over the term. In addition, the mileage rate was increased from 45 to 60¢.km. and the daily subsistence allowance increased to $55. Goris Electric Local 53 members employed by this London-based contractor ratified their first agreement. The settlement took effect July 29, 2024, and continues until June 2027. The contract establishes a full spectrum of union contract benefits for members including both immediate and scheduled wage increases. Improved healthcare benefits and retirement savings will be provided for members through participation in the CLAC Pension Plan and benefits plan. Other notable aspects include vacation pay increases, paid work time for health and safety training courses, an improved annual safety footwear allowance, and an employer-issued workwear program. M.W. Coating Systems Ltd. Local 6 members employed by this Stoney Creek-based contract unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 12% total package increase over the term. In addition to improvements to wages and health benefits, the hours required for overtime were reduced from 44 to 40. Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Mississauga-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases ranging between 15.5 and 17%. Along with solid hourly pay increases each year, the new agreement also provides for improved employer contributions to members’ pension plan, increased vision coverage under the healthcare benefits plan, and higher allowance for members’ tool and boot purchases. Critically important were increased rates for mileage and living-out allowances. Montana Electrical Contractors Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Etobicoke-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of up to $10.50/hr. (24%) and total package increases of up to $16.37/hr. (31%). In addition, employer contributions to members’ pension plan increased 4%; significant improvements were made to the full suite of benefits; and PPE, tools, and apparel allowances increased by $300. Other improvements include an increase in the out-of-town meal allowance from $50 to $65, an increase in the per kilometre mileage rate to 64¢, the introduction of paid parking provisions, and the lowering of the vacation pay threshold by 2 years. North Frontenac Telephone Haliburton Corp. Local 52 members employed by this Etobicoke-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 15% wage increases over the term. Red-circled members will also receive the negotiated rate increases. In addition, members with up to 4 years of employment will receive a 2% increase to employer contributions to their retirement savings while those with 5 or more years of service (formerly 9 or more) will receive a 3.25% increase. A new 10% foreperson premium was negotiated along with a $100 increase to the boot and clothing allowance. The out-of-town meal allowance was increased and the per kilometre rate for mileage was increased to 2024 Canada Revenue Agency rates. Employees with up to 4 years of service will receive a 1% increase to vacation pay and employees with 5 or more years of service (formerly 9 or more) will receive a 2% increase. The agreement also includes significant increases to members’ health benefits and increases to the unions Education and Assistance Fund and Industry Fund. O’Brien Fabrications Ltd. Local 6 members employed by this Guelph-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with the following yearly wages increases: 8, 5, and 3% for HVAC employees; 8, 4, and 4% for cladding employees; 4% each year for welders; and 5, 3, and 3% for labourers. In addition, slope premiums of 50¢, $1, and $1.50/hr. were introduced along with a $1/hr. for welding ticket premium. The tool, boot, and phone allowance was increased by $200 to $500. All employees will see an increase to their life and AD&D payout to $70,000, $10,000 for a spouse, and $5,000 for a child. Vision coverage increases to $350. Penn-Co Construction Canada (2003) Ltd. Local 52, 63, 151, and 152 members employed by Penn-Co Construction Canada ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of 3% in year 1, 2 percent in year 2, and CPI in year 3. New shift schedules (15/6, 21/7), each with an additional premium attached, were also negotiated. Members will also see improvements to employer contributions to their pension plan and RSP along with a doubling of the gear allowance (from $300 to $600/yr.). The contract includes improvements to meal allowances as well as to night-shift, health and safety representative, discretionary, and bunk premiums. Paid travel time and minimum camp standards were also improved. Platinum Power Group (PPG) Local 52 members employed by this Concord-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage improvements in each year, including an immediate $1.15/hr. increase to the journeyperson rate, maintaining PPG electricians’ industry-leading wage advantage. The new contract also includes significant increases to employer contributions to members’ pension plan and additional and improved coverage to the benefits plan. The annual boot allowance was also increased. Pro Electric Inc. Local 53 members employed by this London-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases of 15.5% over the term. Actual value increases range between $8.71/hr. and $10.34/hr. depending on classification. The core of the settlement value was allocated to wage increases, with the electrical and plumbing journeypersons receiving an immediate wage increase of $4.41/hr. The contract also provides improved employer contributions to members’ pension plan, enhanced tool and boot allowance, enhanced vacation pay, and new leaves of absence with pay. Provincial Construction Limited Local 6 members employed by this Niagara Falls-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 17.5% wage increase over the term. In addition, members now have 2 sick days/yr. Rankin Construction Inc. Local 6 members employed by this St. Catharines-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a total package increase of between 17 to 19%, depending on classification, over the term. Along with annual wage increases, the agreement provides improvements to members’ health benefits coverage and increases to the tool allowance and hourly rate premiums. Santos Construction Solutions Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Sudbury-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 7.5% wage increase over the term and enhanced travel allowances. Shamrock Mechanical Solutions Inc. Local 53 members employed by this Lucan-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases totalling $6/hr. for journeypersons as well as improvements to the retirement package and a substantial increase to the tool and boot allowance. HVAC specialists will receive a new premium and a boost in vacation pay after 10 years of service. Sheridan Electric Services Limited Local 53 members employed by this Mississauga-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with substantial wage increases plus 12% employer contributions to their pension plan. The contract also includes new travel provisions, an increase to the per diem amount, an increase to the boot and tool allowance, and a 25% shift premium. Wallwin Voice & Data Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this network communications contractor based in Barrie unanimously ratified a 3-year collective agreement providing them with 11% wage increases over the term. In addition, foreperson premiums and the boot and tool allowance were increased. New travel provisions were also negotiated during this round of bargaining, including paid travel time. Winter & Son Drywall Ltd. Local 6 members employed by this Brantford-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases ranging from 5.7 to 7.7% in the first year, with wage openers scheduled for years 2 and 3. The agreement also includes improvements to bereavement leave, an increase in the mileage rate, enhancements to layoff language, and special wage adjustments to the drywaller rate.
