Beechwood Retirement Residence

Local 304 members employed at this retirement home in Mississauga ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with a 6.5% wage increase over the term. The contract also introduces a new weekend shift premium and includes increases to evening and night-shift premiums. Members will also benefit from an additional float day and enhanced vision-care coverage.  

Benevolent Society “Heidehof” for the Care of the Aged

Local 302 members employed by this long term care home in St. Catharines overwhelmingly ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with annual wage increases of 3.5% for all classifications and $1/hr. wage adjustments each year for RNs and RPNs. Other improvements include an increased weekend premium, enhanced vision care benefits, and the addition of psychotherapists to paramedical coverage. Uniform allowance and vacation provisions were also updated, as well as new return-to-work language guaranteeing representation.

Garrison Place Retirement Home

Local 302 members employed at this retirement home in Fort Erie ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 3.5% annual wage increases. Special wage adjustments were made for personal support workers and unregulated care providers. The agreement also includes improved paramedical and vision coverage, increases to weekend, afternoon, and night-shift premiums, and a 2% employer-matched retirement contribution.

Heatherwood Retirement Residence

Local 302 members at this retirement home in St. Catharines voted unanimously in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement providing them with annual wage increases of 3.5%. A new medical care provider (MCP) classification has been introduced, while some positions and premiums were updated to reflect evolving staffing models. Other improvements include 2 new premiums (a $1/hr. lead-hand premium and $1/hr. orientation premium for employees training new hires); vacation language updates (aligning the vacation year with practice, adding clarity around scheduling, carryover, and payouts, and introducing a $250 service gift for employees reaching 20 years); updated bereavement provisions that now recognize memorials, celebrations of life, and other commemorative events; continuation of the uniform allowance through July 14, 2027, alongside the introduction of employer-provided uniform tops beginning in 2026; and new standard clauses promoting a resident abuse-free environment and outlining an attendance management policy consistent with human rights protections.

Maple City Retirement Inc.

Local 303 members employed at this retirement home in Chatham ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 3.5% annual wage increases. The agreement also features enhanced dental coverage moving from 75/25 to 80/20, increases to uniform and shoe allowances, and various premium increases, including weekend, charge, and in-lieu-of-benefits premiums. New language supporting shift give-aways was added to promote flexibility and work-life balance.

Maplecrest Village Retirement Home

Local 302 members employed at this Grimsby retirement home unanimously ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with 3.5% general wage increases each year and retroactive pay for all active employees. The contract introduces earned sick leave for part-time employees, improved vacation entitlements for long-serving members, and a new letter of understanding ensuring access to electronic pay stubs and leave information.

Shalom Manor Long Term Care Home

Local 302 RNs employed at this home in Grimsby ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with wage improvements, grid adjustments, and enhanced premiums, including a weekend premium increase to $1.35/hr. Vision care and chiropractic coverage were improved. Sick leave provisions were revised to allow greater accumulation of sick time and partial payout of unused sick days. Vacation flexibility was clarified, with eligible employees able to divide up to 2 weeks into individual days. A joint working committee of union and management representatives was established to work on the expansion of bargaining rights to the new site in Hamilton.
