In addition, employees will see employer contributions to their pension plans increase by more than a third. Brampton Brick Limited Local 52 members employed this Brampton-based company voted 96 percent in favour of 3-year agreement providing them with guaranteed annual 2% wage increases over the term. Other improvements include increases to health and welfare benefits, pension, personal safety equipment, and bereavement leave. Another improvement in the agreement is daily overtime. Under the previous agreement, overtime was calculated weekly. Cirrus Management Contracting Limited Local 6 members employed by this St. Catharines-based company ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 1.5 percent wage increase to all classifications as well as increases to employer contributions to their pension plan and the union’s industry fund. Other improvements include increases to mileage reimbursement, show-up pay, and responsibility premiums for lead hands and forepersons. Maple Reinders Constructors Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Cambridge-based contractor voted 82 percent in favour of a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases of between 7.5 and 8 percent. Along with significant hourly pay increases each year, the contract also provides improved pension contributions, better vision coverage under healthcare benefits, and a higher allowance for employee tool and boot purchases. Increased rates for mileage and living out allowances were also secured. Montana Electrical Contractors Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Etobicoke-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of approximately 8% by the end of the term. Other notable additions include an increase to the foreperson premium, a new lead-hand category and premium, overtime premium for work done on Saturdays, and a paid day of leave upon the birth or adoption of a child. The contract also provides an increase from $42 to $50 to the daily food allowance for projects requiring an overnight stay and an increase to the yearly allowance for personal protective equipment, tools, and apparel from $350 to $450. Platinum Power Group Inc. Local 52 members at PPG employed by this Concord-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of more than 13% over the term. The contract also includes significantly improved benefits, vacation pay, and premiums as well as increased employer pension contributions. Santos Construction Solutions Ltd. Local 52 members employed by this Sudbury-based commercial construction company specializing in road construction and sewer/water projects across Ontario unanimously ratified their first agreement. The 3-year contract provides a solid foundation for these new members, including 2% employer pension contributions and enrolment in the CLAC benefits plan. Shamrock Mechanical Solutions Inc. Local 53 members employed by this Lucan-based contractor voted unanimously in favour of a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases between 11.5 and 12.1%, depending on classification. In addition to an hourly pay increase of $1/yr., the new contract also provides improved contributions to members’ pensions and higher annual allowance for tool and boot purchases. Of particular interest to members are new distance travel wage premiums and a restructured foreperson premium payment system. Sundial Homes Limited, Burlington Local 6 members employed by this company ratified their first agreement. The 3-year contract provides them with wage increases across the board for all classifications, increases to health benefits and the pension plan, and 8% vacation pay. ZSD Electric Inc. Local 52 members employed by the Mississauga-based contractor unanimously ratified a first agreement. The 3-year contract provides them with wage increases between approximately 8 and 11% by the end of the term. In addition, members will be enrolled in the CLAC Pension Plan, with the employer contributing 5% in year 1, 6% in year 2, and 7% in year 3. Other notable additions include enrolment in CLAC’s benefits plan as well as employer contributions to the union’s education and industry fund and construction industry fund. Forepersons will receive a $3/hr. premium and senior forepersons $6/hr. Members also will receive a $50 daily food allowance when working on projects requiring an overnight stay.
