These 30 new Local 6 members ratified their first agreement providing them with wage increases and the introduction of the CLAC benefits plan as well as the CLAC Pension Plan.

These 30 new Local 6 members ratified their first agreement providing them with wage increases and the introduction of the CLAC benefits plan as well as the CLAC Pension Plan.

Besseling Mechanical Inc.

Local 6 members employed by this Hamilton-based contractor ratified a new 3-year agreement providing a total package increase equal to the CPI percentage up to a maximum of 2%.

Besterd Mechanical

The 12 Local 53 members employed in the sheet metal division of this London-based contracted ratified a 3-year settlement. Journeypersons will see a 9.9% total increase over the life of the contract. Along with annual wage improvements, members will receive increased employer contributions to the pension plan and vacation pay. Funding improvement for healthcare benefits was also secured, with increased vision coverage. A new feature for employees is an annual allowance for work wear and safety footwear.

BML Roofing Systems Inc.

Local 6 members employed by this Brantford-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 2% annual wage increases over the term.

B-Safe Electric Ltd

Employees of this Mississauga-based contractor ratified their first collective agreement providing them with wage increases and the introduction of employer-paid pension and benefits plans. In addition, the 3-year contract provides improved vacation pay and access to the union’s training program.

C.E.C. Mechanical Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by this Woodbridge-based contractor ratified a new 3-year agreement providing them with a 6.5% wage increase, reimbursement for parking fees, a $50 increase to the vision care plan, and a $100 increase in paramedical expense coverage.

Circon Construction Corporation

Local 52 members employed by this North York-base contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing wage increases of 6.5% over the term plus an increase to pension contributions and improved vacation pay.

Demoforyourreno Inc.

Local 52 members employed by this Etobicoke-based contractor unanimously ratified a 2-year agreement providing wage increases, a retirement savings plan, a benefits plan, and guidelines for advancement. This was the group’s first contract.

Denis Gratton Construction Ltd.

Local 52 members of this Chelmsford-based contractor ratified a first agreement. The 2-year contract includes a pension plan, wage gains, and better benefits.

Dependable Mechanical Systems Inc.

Local 52 journeyperson and apprentice sheet metal mechanics employed by this Concord-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with substantial wage increases over the term. Employer contributions to the pension plan will nearly double to 10% in the third year. The agreement also includes improved travel provisions, increased annual boot allowance, and improved shift, foreperson, and lead-hand premiums.

Everstrong Construction Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by this Georgetown-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 3% annual wage increases over the term plus 10% employer contributions to the CLAC Pension Plan, rising to 11% in 2021 and 12% in 2022. In addition, members will now be entitled to 7 paid sick days per year, and the boot allowance was also increased to $350 annually.

Faugh Electric Inc.

Local 6 members employed by this Kitchener-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing annual wage increases of 90¢/hr./yr., increased vacation pay for long-service employees, and improved vision coverage. Employer contributions to the pension plan will rise to $3.87/hr.

Frisoni Mechanical Inc.

Local 52 members employed as plumbers, sprinkler fitters, and sheet metal workers by this Etobicoke-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of up to $4/hr. over the term, with all journeyperson categories increasing at least $3/hr. The new contract also provides substantial increases to employer contributions to the CLAC Pension Plan, and transition to an improved benefits plan provided by CLAC’s Eastern Health and Welfare Trust Fund. Travel and training provisions were also improved, along with an increased foreperson rate, and a move to weekly pay.

Gedco Excavating Ltd.

Local 6 members employed by this Brantford-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing annual wage increases of 2.25%, employer pension contributions increased to $4.10/hr., and a new bonus system with a value of up to 2%. The contract also provides an improved policy for paid overtime and premiums, 1.5 times the rate of all-night work and Saturday work, and an annual boot allowance.

Graceview Enterprises Inc.

Local 53 members employed by this Belmont-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases as high as $3.96 per hour. Along with hourly pay increases of 2.75% annually, the new contract provides improved vacation pay, pension contributions, vision coverage under healthcare benefits, and employee leave for personal days. Improved language and compensation governing travel was also secured, as well as improved employee allowances for tools, boots, and workwear.

Group 92 Mechanical Inc.

Local 6 members employed by this St. Catharines-based contractor ratified a new 3-year agreement providing paid training time, increased vacation pay for years of service, and wage increases totalling $2.70/hr.

Halton Sheet Metal Ltd.

Local 6 members employed by this Hamilton-based contractor ratified a new 3-year agreement providing paid training time, an increased tool allowance, and wage increases totalling $4.10/hr.

Independent Contractors Association

Local 6 members employed by four Hamilton-based contractors (Demik Construction Company Ltd., Schilthuis Construction Inc., G.S. Wark Limited, and STF Construction Ltd.) ratified a new 3-year agreement providing a total wage increase of 4.5%, the introduction of new classifications, and significant improvement to hours of work and overtime language.

Jasper Constructors Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by this contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with total wage, benefits, and pension increases of up to $3.62/hr. The new contract also provides for improved vacation pay, pension contributions, and paid time for bereavement leave. Improved language and compensation governing travel were secured, as well as better provisions surrounding scheduled hours of work.

Ledcor Technical Services (LTS) Build Services Ltd.

Local 52 members employed by LTS ratified a new 3-year agreement providing total compensation package increase of a little over 6% over the term of the contract as well as improvements to employer-paid contributions to the pension plan, health and welfare benefits provisions, and job security provisions regarding layoffs and subcontracting.

Lor-Don Electric Ltd.

Local 53 members employed by this London-based contractor ratified their first agreement. The 3-year contract provides annual wage increases, healthcare benefits plan, and pension plan. Other improvements include vacation pay increases, paid work time for health and safety training courses, and an annual work wear and safety footwear allowance.

Marnoch Facilities Maintenance

Local 52 members employed by this Barrie-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases totalling approximately 8.5% as well as significant improvements to the night-shift premium and the safety and tool reimbursement allowance.

Masse Electric Inc.

Local 53 members employed by this Tecumseh-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing a 3% wage increase and increases to employer-paid pension contributions, workwear, footwear, and tool allowances as well as improvements to the employee life insurance plan.

Mechanical Drywall Systems Ltd.

Local 6 members employed by this Ancaster-based contractor ratified an 18-month agreement providing a 1% increase to pension contributions and the addition of the CLAC vacation pay trust fund.

O’Connor Electric

Over 440 Local 6 members employed by this Kitchener-based electrical contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing a 2% increase on the total package (now $52.20 for journeypersons) for 2020-2021, with 35¢/hr. of the increase directed to the CLAC Pension Plan. The bargaining committee has been retained to bargain a wage opener for 2021 and 2022.

Pro Pipe Construction Inc.

Local 52 members employed by this Timmins-based contractor unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing a 2.5% retroactive wage increase across the board in the first year and additional 2% wage increases in both years 2 and 3. The agreement also provides enhanced bereavement leave with pay as well as improved travel and transportation language.

Royal Ready-Mix Inc.

Local 52 members of this Oakville-based company ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 2% annual wage increases over the term. Employer contributions to the pension plan were increased by 1% to a total of 9%. Members also gained improvements to their benefits plan including to paramedical and dental services and prescription drug coverage.

Rutherford Contracting Ltd.

Local 52 members employed as carpenters, labourers, and operators by this Aurora-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing total compensation increases of approximately 9.5%. The new contract includes improved vacation pay, a new premium for work in Toronto, and substantial wage and pension increases.

Topline Electric Limited

Local 52 members employed by Topline, based out of Sault Ste. Marie, ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with 5% wage increases over the term as well as increases to on-call payments and to lead-hand and foreperson premiums. Bereavement leave and vision coverage were also enhanced, and journeypersons will receive increased pension contributions.

UrbanLink Civil Ltd.

Ten new Local 6 members employed by this Grimsby-based contractor ratified their first agreement providing them with wage increases and the introduction of the CLAC benefits plan as well as the CLAC Pension Plan.

VanRooyen Earthmoving Ltd.

Local 53 members employed by this Woodstock-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of up to 6.1% over the term as well as an increase to employer contributions to the pension plan to 8%. Other improvements were made to the benefits plan, mileage reimbursement, and automatic overtime pay for work on Saturdays.

Velocity Mechanical Inc.

Local 53 members employed by this Kitchener-base contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with total value increases between $4.70 and $5.24/hr., improved employer contributions to the pension plan, enhanced tool and boot allowance, clarified process to determine travel pay, improved living-out allowances, and increased premiums for certifications/licenses and shift work.

Villano Construction Limited

Local 52 members employed by this Sudbury-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with an initial wage increase across the board with an additional 1% increase in 2021 and 2% in 2022. Members will also receive 4% employer contributions and 3% percent matching contributions to the CLAC Pension Plan, with a 1% increase to each in 2021.

WB Melback Corporation

Local 52 members employed by this New Liskeard-based contractor ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 10% retroactive wage increase to all tradespersons, with a wage review in the 3rd year.
