Members ratified a 4-year agreement providing them with a significant wage correction with pay retroactive to May 15, 2022. In addition, members will receive the following increases or COLA (whichever is higher) over the next 3 years: 3.4% increase in 2023, 3.1% in 2024, and 2.5% in 2025. The agreement also includes an increase to the meal allowance (from $14 to $18), an increase to the afternoon shift premium from 50 to 75¢/hr., and the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday. The contract also includes a number of nonmonetary improvements as well. Cantex-Okanagan Construction Ltd. Members employed by this road building and construction contractor working primarily in the Okanagan region unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with an 8% increase to wages in the first year of the agreement followed by 3.5% annual increases in years 2 and 3. The contract also includes improvements to a number of allowances and premiums. Lombard Pre-Cast Limited Partnership Members ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with a 6.6% wage increase retroactive to November 1, 2022, followed by 3.5% wage increases in years 2 and 3, wage market adjustments, and the creation of new classifications. Other improvements include the creation of a $250 fitness account, increases to designated and back-up first-aid premiums, better training and experience for back-up machine operators and a new $1/hr. premium for those positions, and more inclusive personal protective equipment provisions for probationary members. In addition, unused illness and injury days can be paid out or contributed to the members’ RSP plan. Peace River Hydro Partners Construction Ltd. (PRHP) Members received a significant wage increase following an arbitration award to settle a wage opener as outlined in their agreement. When negotiations to reach a settlement stalled, the parties took the matter to binding arbitration. Arbitrator Ken Saunders awarded a 5% increase to all base wages, given the current high rate of inflation, which has raised members’ cost of living considerably. The award comes following a 4.5% increase last year. Productive Construction Ltd. Members unanimously ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage increases of 4% in 2023, 3% in 2024, and an additional 3% in 2025. The premium for fall protection safety certification increased from 25 to 50¢/hr., and a new 50¢/hr. premium was negotiated for confined space safety certification. In addition, employer contributions to the health and welfare benefits premiums increased from $1.90 to $2.10/hr. A number of nonmonetary improvements were also negotiated.
