Members employed by this company based in Fort McMurray ratified a 30-month agreement providing electricians with a 7.26% wage increase to bring them to industry norms and 4% for other classifications, whose rates were already within current industry norms. The agreement also includes beneficial training language, clarifies language around overtime work on off days, and provides $500 reimbursement for flame resistant gear. JVD Installations Inc. Members employed by this company based in Leduc ratified a 2-year agreement providing them with a 7.6% increase to their base wage rate. The new contract also includes a $200 increase to the clothing allowance and an increase to employer-paid premiums to the benefits plan. Ledcor Highways Ltd. The 150+ members employed in 8 different shops across Alberta ratified a 3-year agreement providing them with wage gains and many other improvements to the agreement. Using an interest-based bargaining approach, the union bargaining committee was able to address many issues, including those not reflected in changes to their contract. In addition, members will see increases up to 7%. PCL Builders Inc. Members ratified a new agreement that features several improvements, including wages increases. The 2-year contract was approved after more than 20 membership meetings across the province. A total of 261 members voted 73% in favour of the new agreement. Highlights include increases to the boot allowance, night-shift differential, and retirement plan along with a number of positive language changes. Two tiers of increased vacation-pay incentives for long term employees were added. Base wages increased 3.5% for members in Calgary and 2% in the Edmonton region. A wage review will be conducted on June 30, 2023, and January 1, 2024 with a guaranteed 1% increase. Members will see total compensation increases of between 4.5% and 6.5%, depending on years of service, during the first year of the contract. Safe Access Scaffold Ltd. Members voted 90% in favour of ratifying a 2-year agreement providing a 5.5% wage increase, bringing them in line with other scaffolding companies in Alberta. Other improvements include the addition of the National Day for Truth and reconciliation as a statutory holiday, an increase in the stewards premium, and minor contract language changes. Woodland Constructors Ltd. Members working at 6 sites across Alberta ratified a 28-month agreement providing them with a minimum 7% wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2023. A further wage increase of 4% will take effect on September 3, 2023, for employees at most of the sites, with a wage review scheduled for the remaining site. The agreement also provides improved training contributions and language, which will greatly enhance members’ access to the union’s training offerings. In addition, employer contributions to benefits premiums were increased, which will keep all members covered under the benefits plan, and coverage for the purchase of prescription safety glasses was increased. WorleyCord Energy Solutions Ltd. – Construction Members ratified a 30-month agreement that provides them with an immediate 8% increase to their base pay. The 330 scaffolders and electricians work at more than 10 different locations between Blackfalds and the Fort McMurray region. They received another 2% increase as of January 1, 2023, with a wage review scheduled for October 2023. The agreement also secured clearer language on matters pertaining to work hours and statutory holidays. Other recent ratifications include for members employed by Basilian Industrial Services Ltd., Daphil Electrical Inc., Flatiron Constructors Canada Limited, Impact Safety Solutions Ltd., Milestone Scaffolding Ltd., and Nason Contracting Group Ltd. – Maintenance.
