Monday, March 16, 2026 Power Inc. Employees Unanimously Ratify New Three-Year Agreement Ratifications KITCHENER, ON—CLAC Local 53 members employed by Power Inc., an electrical company based in Kitchener, Ontario, unanimously ratified a new three-year collective agreement that includes wage increases and improvements to retirement contributions, benefits, and allowances. The agreement was ratified on March 12, 2026, with 100 percent member support and takes effect March 1, 2026. Power Inc. performs electrical work including linework, network cabling, communication cable installation, and solar installations. The agreement covers electricians and electricians’ apprentices, linemen and linemen apprentices, network cabling specialists and apprentices, and communication cable installers. Under the new agreement, wages will increase from $39 per hour to $43 on March 1, 2026, rising to $46 in 2027 and $48 in 2028. Retirement contributions will also increase by one percent per year over the three-year term. Members will see improvements to their health benefits as well. Vision coverage will increase from $350 to $500 over three years, with an additional increase to eye exam coverage. Dental coverage for both basic/minor and major restorative services will increase from $1,500 to $2,000. Additional gains in the agreement include an increase to the out-of-town allowance from $50 to $65 and an annual $50 increase to the tool allowance. Members will also receive a $50 per month cell phone allowance. The agreement also supports ongoing skills development through a training fund contribution that will increase from $0.21 per hour in year one to $0.23 in year two and $0.25 in year three. Improvements to vacation entitlement for employees with 10–20 years of service and those with more than 20 years are also included. “We were happy to get monetary increases in a number of areas, including wages, pension, vacation pay, and some additional coverage for the dental packages,” says Mary Ellen VanderSluis, CLAC representative.
