P.H.E. Contractor Sales Employees Unanimously Ratify New Three-Year Contract
Brampton, ON—Employees of P.H.E. Contractor Sales Ltd., an electrical contractor based in Brampton, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage and other gains.
The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented the company’s employees since 2008.
The new contract provides employees with a $10.37 per hour (22 percent) total package increase over the term, including a 2 percent increase to employer contributions to employees’ pension plan. Increases were made to the boot, tool, and out of town allowances and a new clothing allowance was introduced. Other improvements include benefits coverage extended to apprentices during trade school, increased mileage rates, and the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday.
“The 50 electricians and electrician apprentices employed by P.H.E were pleased to ratify this new contract, which provided them with much-anticipated increases,” says Randy Parris, CLAC representative. “The union bargaining committee remained focused during challenging and uncertain negotiations, and as a result, secured timely wage and pension increases for the membership.”
