Park Lane Terrace Employees See Wage Gains, Other Improvements with New Contract

Paris, ON—Employees of Park Lane Terrace overwhelmingly ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases and other improvements.

The nearly 150 employees are represented by Grand River Valley Health Care Workers Union, CLAC Local 305. The union has represented Park Lane employees since 1981.

The new contract provides wage increases of 1.5 percent in the first year followed by 3 percent increases in years 2 and 3. In addition, special wage adjustments of $0.50 per hour were negotiated for registered practical nurses and recreational therapists. Other improvements include benefits enhancements to the annual paramedical amounts and an increase to the annual dental maximums and increases to shift and weekend premiums.

“The union bargaining committee did a good job assessing and addressing the needs of the membership,” says Isobel Farrell, CLAC representative. “We’re pleased that an overwhelming majority of members supported the settlement, with 90 percent voting in favour of the new contract.”
