Monday, April 6, 2026 Neighbourhood Electric Employees Ratify New Agreement with Wage and Benefits Gains Local 53 Ratifications Construction WINDSOR, ON—Local 53 members employed by Neighbourhood Electric ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases, improved benefits, and enhanced allowances. The 20-member group of electricians voted 89 percent in favour of the agreement and secured a $3 per hour wage increase in 2026, followed by $1 per hour increases in 2027 and 2028, reaching $44 per hour by the end of the term. The agreement also includes a 2.25 percent increase to retirement contributions and significant improvements to benefits, including enhanced vision care, eye exam, and dental coverage. Additional gains include increases to the out-of-town and tool, boot, and clothing allowances, new lead-hand premiums ranging from five to fifteen percent, and improvements to mileage rates and the training fund. “Our members continue to demonstrate strong skill and adaptability across a range of electrical work,” says Mary Ellen VanderSluis, representative. “This agreement delivers meaningful wage growth and important improvements that support members both on and off the job.” Neighbourhood Electric provides electrical services including linework, network cabling, communication cable installation, and solar projects across the Windsor-Essex region.
