Tuesday, June 7, 2022 NAC Employees Secure Wage, Benefits Gains with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Morriston, ON—Employees of North America Construction (NAC) voted in favour of a new three-year collective agreement providing them with increases to wages, foreperson and lead-hand premiums, boot and workwear allowance, and employer payments toward the cost of the benefits plan. NAC employees have been represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52, for over 25 years. The company employs approximately 100 union members in a variety of trades. The new contract includes wage increases of twelve percent over three years including six percent in year one. The boot and workwear allowance increased to $450 annually. “This was a challenging round of negotiations as the parties balanced the high cost of living along with the attraction and retention of workforce talent while still remaining competitive,” says J. D. Alkema, CLAC regional director for the GTA. “During negotiations, we were able to secure proper compensation for our members while balancing the employer’s need to be competitive. The new agreement will also help NAC retain the excellent workforce it has.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
