Marriott Courtyard Employees Secure Significant Wage Gains
Mississauga, ON—Employees of Marriott Courtyard Mississauga – Airport Corporate Centre West unanimously ratified a six-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases.
The employees are represented by Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented service employees working at the front desk and bistro as well as in maintenance and housekeeping since 2016.
The agreement includes the adoption of a new wage grid, which resulted in some members receiving increases as high as 22.5 percent in the first year of the agreement. Across all classifications, the average increase for the first year was 12.5 percent followed by annual increases totalling an additional 10.5 percent over the remaining term of the contract.
“Our members were elated with the significant wage gains achieved over the six-year renewal,” says Kevin Gates, CLAC representative. “Negotiations for this settlement were entirely focused on achieving wage increases to ensure our members were adequately compensated and Marriott is able to compete in attracting and retaining qualify staff.”
