Saturday, January 22, 2022 Local 6 and 53 Members Busy Working on New Distribution Centre Locals Local 53 Newsletters Ontario Construction Sectors Construction Vacant land that formerly was home to the Ford Talbotville assembly plant in St. Thomas is being repurposed for a new massive warehousing and distribution centre. The decommissioned plant buildings were demolished to clear the space. The new development south of the 401 along Highway 4 is now rapidly moving to completion. Approximately 80 Local 6 members employed by O’Connor Electric are on site, with an expected peak of about 100, and a further 30 Local 53 members employed by Empire Roofing Corporation. The project is expected to wind down by late summer.
