Wednesday, April 30, 2025 Letter to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Mark Carney CLAC is ready to work with your government and explore ways in which our skilled workforce can contribute to Canada’s economic prosperity and freedom Blogs News National Dear Prime Minister, On behalf of CLAC, I extend our congratulations on your election victory. As an all-Canadian union representing over 60,000 workers in almost all sectors of the economy, we are prepared to work together in support of policies that strengthen our economy and make work a more positive and fulfilling experience for Canadians. As you appoint your cabinet and commence the business of governing, we encourage you to focus on the following three priorities: 1. Investing in Infrastructure and Jobs Canada needs strong, long term investment in infrastructure—not just to improve public services, but to create good jobs for skilled workers. CLAC calls on your government to proceed ambitiously with new infrastructure projects, invest in key industries, support made-in-Canada policies, and expand trade beyond the US. 2. Open Tendering Fair workplaces start with choice. Publicly funded construction projects should be open to all qualified contractors and skilled trades workers, not just hand-picked unions chosen by friendly governments. CLAC supports true freedom of association, and we call on your government to develop policies that preserve everyone’s fair access to work on public projects and that save taxpayer dollars in the process. 3. Removing Bureaucratic Obstacles and Barriers For Canada to thrive, it needs the ability to approve large resource development projects in a timely manner. Such projects not only provide tens of thousands of high-paying jobs to Canadians, they propel the entire economy forward. We call on your government to remove bureaucratic obstacles and barriers that continue to delay such projects, stifling our economic development and prosperity. We are ready to work with your government and explore ways in which our skilled workforce can contribute to Canada’s economic prosperity and freedom. On behalf of CLAC’s 60,000 members across Canada.
