Thursday, May 22, 2025 Lacombe Foundation Employees Secure Sizeable Wage Increase, Maintain Benefits with New Contract Local 301 Ratifications Healthcare LACOMBE, AB—Local 301 members employed by the Lacombe Foundation at Eckville Manor and the Lacombe Lodge ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with a sizeable wage increase and other improvements. The new contract provides members with a 7.5 percent wage increase over the term, which is a significant achievement in this sector in Alberta. Other improvements include updated contract language regarding seniority provisions and vacation earning and entitlement. Further language improvements were made throughout the contract with the removal of outdated language and clearer and more precise wording of terms that affect the membership. Of significance was the maintaining of the existing benefits package, which the employer sought to scale back. “This agreement took some time to reach a successful conclusion,” says Ed De Bruyne, CLAC representative. “An initial settlement was rejected by the membership, and we returned to the table to reach a new, mutually acceptable agreement.” The agreement covers approximately 60 members across both sites, including those working in dietary, housekeeping, and healthcare aide roles.
