Tuesday, May 1, 2018 Labour Code Review Newsletters In February, the BC government announced it would commence a review of the BC Labour Relations Code. CLAC made submissions to the panel of special advisors who will recommend any potential changes to the code to the government. Highlights of CLAC’s submissions include measures to ensure greater labour and industrial stability, which is critical for facilitating investment in major projects, and labour force inclusiveness so that all of BC’s construction workers are able to apply their skills on public projects. On April 6, CLAC spokespeople Ryan Bruce and Tony vanHengel presented our submissions to the panel. “The labour code should not be subject to extreme swings of the pendulum, but there are areas where improvements can be made,” says Bruce. “We were thankful for the opportunity to engage with the panel and to share our ideas for how the code can best protect the interests of workers and support BC’s economic growth.” You might be interested in CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Approve New Agreement with Wage and Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026 Ready To Deliver 3 Jun 2026 The Miracle of Many Hands 2 Jun 2026
