Electric’s Office Staff Stitch Masks for Work Crews Newsletters Ontario Construction Construction J.M.R. Electric Ltd. showed great team work at the beginning of the pandemic after the crew working on the Brockville General Hospital expansion were told they would have to start wearing cloth masks on site. The directive from the general contractor, aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19, required that all workers be masked as of Monday, April 13. As the products were not available for purchase, J.M.R. had no choice but to start making our own masks for the Brockville site crew. Six dedicated women from J.M.R.’s offices in Exeter, Ontario, jumped at the challenge. They made special arrangements to purchase materials through local quilting supply stores, started cutting fabric and brought their own sewing machines into work to make the masks. Some continued production at home throughout the Easter weekend. Many thanks to J.M.R.’s sensational sewers: Kristina Eilers, Madeline Becke, Sarah Maes, Melanie McKenzie, Catherine Hillier, and Christina McMichael. And special thanks go to Ashley Steffler and Rachel McPherson, the wives of two J.M.R. employees who pitched in and helped with the masks. This was a total team effort! J.M.R.
