Wednesday, June 5, 2019 First CLAC Contract for Rose City Electric Employees Wage and health benefits increases for electricians who left IBEW for CLAC News Electricians employed by Rose City Electric Ltd., based in Windsor, have voted unanimously to accept a settlement for a first collective agreement. The 15 electricians and apprentices left the IBEW 773 this spring in favour of improved union representation by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The three-year contract provides for several improvements over the former IBEW contract, including an immediate wage increase of $2.35/hour. In addition, the new Local 53 collective agreement provides superior healthcare benefits, secure pension savings, fully paid training, and allowances. “These employees rejected how the IBEW treated them,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “They instead chose CLAC as their union for better representation. Now with this first contract, these members also enjoy fair compensation for their highly skilled work.” Local 53 was certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board on April 12, 2019 to represent the employees at Rose City Electric Ltd.
