Thursday, June 18, 2020 CLAC Supports Alberta Panel’s Call to Remove Jurisdictional Barriers for Skilled Trades News Construction Edmonton—CLAC applauds the Alberta Fair Deal Panel’s recent report, in which it recommends addressing interprovincial trade and professional certificate barriers. Recommendation 3 specifically speaks to collaborating with other provincial jurisdictions to reduce these barriers. “Skilled trades professionals often experience difficulty having their credentials recognized in other provinces,” says Dennis Perrin, Alberta director. “Removing these barriers while maintaining the highest quality trade and educational standards among the provinces is in the best interest of tradespersons and working Canadians.” CLAC is a proud supporter of the skilled trades and supports interprovincial trade mobility. Skilled trades professionals hold themselves to high standards and are used to working in a number of provincial jurisdictions as well as internationally. Collaborating with other provinces to remove unnecessary barriers while upholding high standards is a move in the right direction.
