Monday, October 16, 2017 CLAC Launches People of Site C Campaign in Support of Workers Locals Local 68 News Construction Fort St. John, BC—CLAC, the union representing hundreds of employees working on the Site C Clean Energy Project, has launched a campaign called the People of Site C to support workers on the project. The campaign’s goal is to raise public awareness and advocate for workers building the largest public infrastructure project in the history of BC. “People of Site C connects British Columbians to the project through photos and stories of Site C workers,” says Ryan Bruce, CLAC spokesperson. “It’s important to tell the stories of the workers building this project as they often get overlooked in the midst of the political debate.” The provincial government has directed the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) to complete an inquiry weighing the possibility of suspending or terminating the Site C Clean Energy Project. “The review puts Site C workers as well as the affected local communities in a position of uncertainty,” says Bruce. “Many people have already built their lives around the project, injecting new energy into the Peace River economy. People of Site C is the next step in our continued efforts to advocate for over 2,000 workers on the project.” In addition to writing letters to Premier John Horgan and Andrew Weaver, Green Party leader, CLAC has met with the Green Party caucus and made presentations at multiple BCUC hearings. It also has continued to circulate a petition on behalf of all those who may be impacted by a temporary cessation of work, or cancellation of the project. “Thousands of people have already visited the website, and many have sent us encouraging messages,” says Bruce. “We are inviting people to join the conversation; share the stories with their friends, family and co-workers; and demonstrate their support by signing our petition.” Previous Next You might be interested in Strathcona Mechanical Workers Approve New Agreement with Wage and Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026 Ready To Deliver 3 Jun 2026 The Miracle of Many Hands 2 Jun 2026 Velocity Mechanical Workers Secure New Contract with Wage and Benefit Improvements 1 Jun 2026
