CLAC Announces New Leadership in BC

Langley, BC—On December 31, 2017, David Prentice will complete his nine-year term as CLAC’s BC director. Kevin Kohut will serve as the new BC director beginning January 1, 2018. Kevin has worked for CLAC for 20 years, gaining experience in multiple sectors and industries as provincial representative, and most recently, as CLAC’s construction and mining coordinator for BC.

Under Kevin’s leadership, CLAC will continue to advance the interests of CLAC’s 10,000 members in BC and advocate for better working conditions and opportunities for all BC workers.

Kevin will oversee CLAC’s continued growth and diversification in the service, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors, where workers have embraced the progressive, member-focussed approach of the union.

CLAC will also benefit greatly from his considerable experience in the construction sector, where its membership has successfully completed some of the most significant and sizable projects in the province.

CLAC is the union representing the majority of workers on the Site C Clean Energy Project, the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Expansion Pipeline Project, the G3 Grain Terminal in Vancouver, as well as many other projects across the province. CLAC believes that all BC workers should have access to construction projects, particularly projects funded by public dollars.

“On behalf of CLAC and our membership, we thank David for his steadfast commitment to our organization,” says Wayne Prins, CLAC executive director. “We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our members during Kevin’s tenure as CLAC’s BC director.”
