Thursday, October 8, 2020 CKHA Employees Gain Improved Wages, Benefits with New Contract The three-year collective agreement also provides improvements to weekend premiums and seniority provisions Locals Local 303 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Chatham, ON—Employees of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) represented by CLAC have voted in favour of a new three-year collective agreement that provides improvements to wages, weekend premiums, and health benefits. The employees are members of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303. The union has represented these workers since 2004. “Like other hospital workers, these members are captured under Bill 124, the Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act,” says Trish Douma, CLAC regional director. “It is unfortunate that this bill has not been repealed, particularly during the pandemic. “However, we were able to secure nonmonetary changes to the collective agreement that improved seniority provisions and working flexibility for members. The union’s bargaining committee did an excellent job bringing forward their fellow members’ priorities in negotiations and reaching a fair settlement with their employer.” Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is a 200-bed community hospital serving the residents of Chatham and rural Kent at its two sites in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
