Chartwell London Nurses Unanimously Ratify New Contract
London, ON—Registered nurses employed by Chartwell London LTC unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with annual wage increases and a number of other improvements.
The nurses are represented by Southwestern Ontario Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303. The union has represented them since 1992.
The new contract provides the nurses with 1.75 percent annual wage increases over the term. In addition, night, evening, and weekend premiums will increase each year of the agreement.
Other improvements negotiated include increases to the responsibility allowance and vision care coverage. The agreement also includes coverage for mental health services by a psychologist, registered psychotherapist, or social worker to a maximum of $800 per year.
“We’re pleased with the results of this round of negotiations,” says Mary Ellen Alward, CLAC representative. “The settlement provides a number of solid and well-deserved improvements for these hardworking members, who have endured nearly two years of working under pandemic conditions.”
