Thursday, September 22, 2022 Caron Equipment Employees Ratify First Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Timmons, ON—Local 52 members employed by Caron Equipment Inc. ratified their first collective agreement providing them with increases to wages, benefits, and retirement savings. The three-year contract, ratified with 97 percent voting in favour, provides wage increases ranging up to $4 per hour, with a further 6 percent increase over the next two years. In addition, members will be enrolled in the CLAC Pension Plan, with eight percent employer contributions. Members will also move to the CLAC Benefits Plan on November 1, 2022, providing them with better coverage. A night-shift premium of $1.50 per hour was also included in the agreement. “We were able to achieve our first collective agreement with our members at Caron Equipment, increasing their wages, benefits, and pension for all employees,” says Gord O’Coin, regional director of the union’s Sudbury Member Centre. The members are employed as equipment operators, surveyors, mechanics, truck drivers, and labourers. They are currently working at the Côté – IAM Gold Project and the Borden gold mine.
