Tuesday, September 13, 2022 Caressant Care Nurses See Wage Increases and Numerous Improvements with New Contract Locals Local 304 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Harriston, ON—Registered nurses employed by Caressant Care Nursing Home in Harriston ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases and numerous other improvements. The nurses are represented by Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304. The union has represented them since 1990. The new contract provides 1.75 percent annual wage increases over the term as well as improvements to the vacation grid, orientation language, and language for in-service and e-learning pay. Nurses will receive overtime when they work a shift on their weekend off. Benefits improvements were made to paramedical coverage (from $550 to $750), vision care coverage ($350), as well as psychologists, social workers, and psychotherapists ($800). The contract also includes improvements to bereavement leave and parental leave top up. In addition, shift and weekend premiums will increase each year of the contract and responsibility pay increases from $11 to $15. Standby pay increases from $2.50 to $3.00 in 2022 and to $3.45 in 2023.
