Saturday, August 28, 2021 Bargaining Updates Locals Local 306 Newsletters Manitoba Local 306 Local 306 members working in education have been waiting to have their expired collective agreements renegotiated following the Manitoba government’s Public Service Sustainability Act and continued wage freeze mandates that are hampering negotiations. Because of these mandates, the Manitoba Labour Board recently settled provisions of collective agreements for Winnipeg School Division bus drivers and Manitoba Hydro, after strike action. Garden Valley School Division CLAC negotiated wage increases of 1.6%, 1.4%, 0.5%, and COLA (cost of living adjustment) were secured in the agreement. Increases to paid sick leave days (to a maximum of 130) and vacation pay (a 12% vacation step was added) were also included in the contract. The new agreement also provided a change of how family leave days are used. Hanover School Division Custodial staff and educational assistants ratified a 3-year agreement. Negotiations were complicated by a provincial mandate restricting increases to 0%, 0%, 0.75%, and 1% over 4 years. Members voted to strike, but a settlement was reached just days before the school year started. It includes wage increases of 1.6%, 1.4%, and 0.5% and minor contract wording adjustments. EnVision Community Living (Kindale Industries and Eastman Recycling Services) The current collective agreement expires December 31, 2021. Negotiations are underway.
