Thursday, February 26, 2026 BakosNDT Employees Unanimously Ratify New Three-Year Agreement Local 63 Ratifications EDMONTON—Local 63 members employed by BakosNDT Ltd. voted unanimously in favour of ratifying a new three-year collective agreement, securing solid gains in wages, allowances, and benefits enhancements. Local 63 was certified by the Alberta Labour Relations Board to represent the company’s employees in October 2020. The new contract provides annual wage increases of 3 percent in the first year, 2.75 percent in the second, and 2.5 percent in the third, ensuring steady income growth throughout the agreement term. Members will also see standby pay increased from two hours to five hours, recognizing the value of their availability outside regular working hours. Other important improvements include a new additional meal allowance of $25 when working beyond 12.5 hours, along with increases to the living-out allowance (from $135 per day to $150) and the daily meal allowance (from $60 to $70). A boot allowance has also been introduced, providing up to $200 every three years for eligible employees with at least one year of service. Contributions to members’ retirement security were also strengthened. The employer’s contribution rate to the CLAC retirement program increases by two percent after four years of service, with an additional two percent increase after ten years, further rewarding long term commitment. “This agreement reflects our members’ professionalism and the constructive relationship we’ve built with BakosNDT,” says John Taekema, representative. “The unanimous ratification shows that members recognize the significant gains achieved, especially in compensation, allowances, and long term benefits.” Based in Edmonton, BakosNDT specializes in nondestructive testing and inspection services for the region’s industrial and energy sectors. The company employs 25 skilled Local 63 members, who perform critical testing and inspection work that helps ensure the safety and reliability of equipment and infrastructure across western Canada.
