B-Safe Electric Employees Secure Wage, Pension, and Benefits Gains with First Collective Agreement

Mississauga, ON—Employees of B-Safe Electric Ltd ratified their first collective agreement providing them with wage increases and the introduction of employer-paid pension and benefits plans.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52, after joining the union in April 2019.

In addition to wage, pension, and benefits gains, the three-year contract also provides employees with improved vacation pay and access to the union’s training program.

“The bargaining process was lengthy in part because of the COVID-19 pandemic and also because the parties were trying to find the right settlement to meet their interests,” says J. D. Alkema, CLAC regional director. “A lot of time and effort went into this process. Ultimately, we were able to negotiate an agreement that will work for all those involved, but especially for the members employed by B-Safe.”

B-Safe Electric is an electrical contractor based in Mississauga working in the greater Toronto and Hamilton areas. It provides services in the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors.
