Aecon Employees Secure Annual Wage Increases with New Agreement

Langley, BC—Employees of Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. voted 83 percent in favour of ratifying a three-year collective agreement providing them with yearly wage increases and other improvements.

The approximately 150 unionized employees are represented by Construction and Allied Workers Union, CLAC Local 68. The union has represented Aecon employees in BC since 2002.

The new contract provides employees with three percent annual wage increases over the term. In addition, employees received a two percent increase to employer-paid retirement contributions (one percent employer contributions and one percent employer matched), with further one percent employer contributions in 2024 and 2025. The agreement also provides increases to statutory holiday pay and increased funding and improvements to the benefits plan, including a reduced waiting period for short term disability. Sick leave provisions were also improved.

“The union bargaining committee identified the needs of the membership and successfully negotiated with the employer to secure them,” says Joe Okhueleigbe, CLAC representative. “We’re pleased that our members voted solidly in favour of the settlement, which provides them and the employer with good security for the next three years.”
